Custody and Record Contacts

The Sheriff's Office is the first call for routing a current-custody question. The Department of Corrections operates the Detention Center and may be the custodian of underlying detention material. Both use the Fieldcrest Road location but have different roles. Call before visiting or submitting a request.

Dorchester County Sheriff's Office
829 Fieldcrest Road
Cambridge, MD 21613
410-228-4141
Office: open 24 hours
Lobby: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Sheriff has not published a separate online booking-photo request or photo fee schedule. Its main line can direct a caller to the proper unit.

Use the route that fits the question:

  • For current custody and booking-search help, begin with the Sheriff's Inmate Search and main line.
  • For a booking record or image, follow the request steps on the county arrest-record hub and identify the likely records custodian.
  • For who was just booked, use Arrested Today; for older active booking dates, use Arrest Reports.
  • For release or transfer alerts about a known person, register through Maryland VINE.
  • For a court charge or disposition, use Maryland Judiciary Case Search and the Dorchester criminal clerk.
  • For a person committed to state prison, use the Maryland DPSCS Incarcerated Individual Locator.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the federal BOP or ICE locator, since those systems are separate from the county jail.

A formal county request may include search, review, copy, media, preparation, and postage costs, and a deposit may be required. No Dorchester-specific booking-photo price was published. The county form states that the custodian has up to 30 days to supply information. Ask for a cost estimate before approving a large search and request any releasable portion if another part is withheld.
